2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup light brown sugar - not packed
1 cup (2 sticks) salted butter - softened
1 large egg
1 teaspoon vanilla
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F and prepare baking sheets with parchment, Silpat or cooking spray.
- Cream together butter and sugars until fluffy. Add egg and vanilla.
- Stir together flour and baking soda and add to butter mixture.
- Roll dough into 1-inh balls and roll in sugar. Place 2 inches apart on prepared sheets and bake for 8-10 minutes. Cool briefly before removing to racks. Store in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks.
